Driving Lessons
In most areas we cover, we’re able to offer both manual and automatic driving lessons, giving you the freedom to choose the option that suits you best. We also have a strong team of both male and female driving instructors, so if you have a preference, we’ll always do our very best to accommodate it.
Whatever helps you feel comfortable, supported, and confident as you learn — we’re here to make it happen.
Everything You Need to Know
Whether you’re a complete beginner starting your driving journey, someone who’s had lessons before and isn’t starting from scratch, or someone who’s recently failed a test and feels a fresh approach would help — we can support you.
Our lessons aren’t just for new learners. We also offer refresher sessions, motorway lessons, and support for people who need assessments linked to medical requirements. Whatever your situation, you should find the information you need here, and if you’re unsure which option is right for you, we’re always happy to guide you.
Weekly Driving Lessons
The majority of learners take a weekly driving lesson. The most common lesson length is 90 minutes, although depending on your location, some learners will require a 2‑hour session. Our instructors are used to working around rotating Week A/Week B college timetables, so that’s never a problem. We also understand that many of our learners are in full‑time work, so we do our best to accommodate rotating shifts, as well as evening and weekend lessons.
The most important part of learning to drive is consistency. You really do need to be taking a lesson every week to make steady progress. Some learners choose to book two lessons a week, and that’s absolutely fine too. We’ll always aim to match you with an instructor who can best accommodate your schedule and support the pace you want to learn at.
To help us do that, it’s really useful if you can give as much information as possible about your requirements when you make your initial booking — whether you’re speaking with our admin team or sending an email enquiry. The more we know from the start, the better we can match you with the right instructor and the right lesson structure.
Birthday Lesson
Turning seventeen is a momentous occasion — it opens the door to beginning your driving journey, and for many young people it’s the milestone they’ve been counting down to. We receive a lot of requests for birthday lessons, and it’s easy to see why. It’s an exciting moment, and our instructors genuinely love being part of it.
If you’d like to book a birthday lesson, please give us as much notice as possible. Our admin team will look after you from the moment you get in touch and will stay in contact until we reach the point where we can confirm your instructor.
We can usually confirm the instructor’s details around six weeks before the first lesson. If you’re contacting us with a last‑minute request, we will always do our very best to accommodate.
Vouchers are also available if you’d like to give the gift of driving lessons — a perfect way to make their seventeenth birthday even more memorable.

Semi‑Intensive Courses
Semi‑intensive courses are a great option if you want to make faster progress without committing to a full intensive programme. They allow you to build momentum by taking more frequent lessons over a shorter period of time while still giving you space between sessions to reflect, practise, and absorb what you’ve learnt.
A typical semi‑intensive course with us involves 3 to 5 lessons per week over a period of around two to three months. This structure gives you the consistency and pace needed to progress quickly, without the pressure of cramming everything into a single week.
These courses work particularly well for learners who are motivated to move forward quickly, have some flexibility in their schedule, or are preparing for a test and want a structured boost in the run‑up to it.
We tailor every semi-intensive course to the individual — your experience, confidence level, availability, and goals. There’s no one‑size‑fits‑all timetable. Instead, we design a plan that helps you progress safely, steadily, and efficiently.
We don’t offer full intensive courses. Traditionally, an intensive course runs over a single week with a driving test at the end. There are specialist intensive driving schools that focus solely on this type of training and have instructors available for week‑long blocks. Unfortunately, our instructors don’t have that level of availability, so we’re unable to provide intensive courses.
If you’d like to explore whether a semi‑intensive approach is right for you, we’re always happy to talk it through and help you choose the option that best fits your needs.
Manual or Automatic — Which Is Right for You?
If you’re not sure whether to learn in a manual or an automatic car, you’re not alone. It’s one of the most common questions we’re asked, and the truth is there’s no single “right” answer. It’s about choosing the option that suits you, your confidence, and your long‑term plans.
Learning in a Manual
Manual lessons give you a full driving licence, meaning you can drive both manual and automatic cars once you’ve passed. Some learners like having that flexibility, especially if they’re unsure what type of car they’ll own in the future.
Manual driving does involve more coordination — gears, clutch control, and timing — which some people enjoy and others find more challenging. If you’re happy to learn the extra skills and want the freedom to drive any type of car, a manual could be the right choice.
Learning in an Automatic
Automatic cars are becoming increasingly popular, especially with the rise of hybrid and electric vehicles. In fact, the industry is moving steadily towards electric, and eventually all new cars will be automatic by design, simply because electric vehicles don’t use gears in the traditional sense.
Many learners find automatics less stressful because there’s no clutch and no gear changes to think about. This can help you focus more on the road, traffic, and decision‑making. If you want the simplest, most straightforward route to getting on the road, automatic lessons can be a great option. Just remember: an automatic licence only allows you to drive automatic cars.

What’s The Best Choice?
There’s no one‑size‑fits‑all answer. It depends on:
- how confident you feel about coordinating gears and clutch
- the type of car you’re likely to drive after you pass
- whether you prefer simplicity or want the flexibility of a full licence
- how quickly you want to progress
- whether you want to future‑proof your licence as the industry moves electric
We’re here to help you make the right decision. We have a large team of both manual and automatic instructors across most of the areas we cover, so whatever option suits you best, we’ll do our very best to accommodate it and match you with the right instructor.
If you’re still unsure, we’re always happy to talk it through and help you choose the path that feels right for you.
Motorway Driving Lessons
Motorway driving can feel daunting if you’ve never done it before, but with the right guidance it quickly becomes a skill you can feel completely confident with. Our motorway lessons are designed to give you the knowledge, awareness, and calm decision‑making needed to drive safely and comfortably at higher speeds.
Did you know that learner drivers can now go on the motorway?
They can — but only with a fully qualified ADI in a dual‑controlled car. This change was introduced to help learners gain real‑world experience in a safe, supported environment.
Whether you’re a newly‑qualified driver looking to build confidence, a learner preparing for real‑world driving, or someone who has avoided motorways for years, we can support you at a pace that feels right.
What we cover in motorway lessons?
- joining and leaving motorways safely
- lane discipline and understanding road signs
- overtaking and managing higher‑speed traffic
- smart motorways and variable speed limits
- dealing with busy junctions and slip roads
- planning ahead and staying calm under pressure
Every lesson is tailored to your experience level, confidence, and goals. There’s no rush and no judgement — just clear, supportive coaching to help you feel in control.
Motorways are statistically the safest roads in the UK, but only when drivers understand how to use them properly. Building confidence early makes a huge difference to your independence, especially if you’ll be commuting, travelling long distances, or driving for work.

Refresher Driving Lessons
Refresher lessons are ideal for anyone who already holds a licence but feels they would benefit from a little extra support, confidence, or up‑to‑date guidance. Whether it’s been months or years since you last drove, or there are specific situations you’d like help with, our instructors are here to support you without judgement and at a pace that feels comfortable.
Many drivers come to us for refresher lessons for all sorts of reasons — returning to driving after a break, feeling nervous in busy traffic, wanting help with roundabouts, or simply wanting to rebuild confidence after a difficult experience. Whatever your reason, you’re not alone, and we’re here to help.
What we can cover in refresher lessons?
Your lessons are tailored entirely to you, but common areas include:
- rebuilding general driving confidence
- navigating roundabouts and complex junctions
- driving in busy towns or on unfamiliar roads
- parking skills, including bays and parallel parking
- night‑time or poor‑weather driving
- dual carriageways and higher‑speed roads
- preparing for a new job that requires driving
There’s no pressure and no expectation — just calm, supportive coaching designed to help you feel safe, capable, and in control behind the wheel.
Mock Tests
A mock test is one of the most effective ways to prepare for your real driving test. It gives you the chance to experience the structure, pressure, and pace of the test in a safe, supportive environment — and it often highlights the small habits or nerves that can make all the difference.
Because of the size of our team, we’re able to offer mock tests with a different instructor.
This creates a completely different dynamic, much closer to what you’ll experience on the day of your actual test. Sitting next to someone new, hearing instructions in a different voice, can really help you build resilience and confidence.
Why our mock tests make such a difference?
- experience the real test format from start to finish
- drive with an instructor you haven’t met before — just like the real test
- identify habits or weaknesses due to pressure or nerves
- build confidence under realistic test‑day pressure
- receive clear, constructive feedback to help you improve
We do our best to arrange a mock test at a time that suits you and with an instructor who can give you a genuine, unbiased assessment of your readiness. Your instructor will also sit in the back so that they can help you work through any issues raised in the mock test.
