Tasha Little Passed January 2026 - Manual
My driving instructor was Julia and she is amazing, now only she was patient when teaching me but she is also the most caring person I have ever met! If it wasn't for her I wouldn't have passed with only 2 faults on my test. Thank you so much.
Madison Passed October 2025 - Automatic
I really enjoyed my driving lessons with Brendan. He is the best driving instructor ever! I wouldn't have been able to pass first time without him. I would recommend Brendan to anyone who wants to learn to drive in an automatic.
Sarra Downes - Her son Passed September 2025 - Manual
Julia you have been so amazing with Callum and given him the skills and confidence with his driving you put him at ease from the very first lesson and we can't thank you enough for supporting him on this journey. If I could give you more than five stars I would I highly recommend you to everyone who is wanting to learn to drive and I wish you and your students every success.

You may find your lessons take you out onto the rural roads heading to neighbouring places like Hitchin and Baldock. You are also now allowed to drive on the motorway with a fully qualified driving instructor which opens up the opportunity to drive on the A1(M) to ensure that you really are fully experienced and ready for life on the road once you have passed your driving test.
Preparing you for real‑world driving — not just the test!
Letchworth test centre is the main one for Letchworth and the surrounding areas, including Hitchin. The test centre boasts a test pass rate above the national average at 47.2% when measured between April 2018 and March 2019.
Situated in Jackmans Place in Letchworth Garden City, the test routes will look to challenge you on many features of urban roads, with a number of tricky junctions and roundabouts for you to tackle. Some of the test routes will also take you out to the country roads and even towards Hitchin at times.
No matter the challenges you face, your instructor will have made sure you are well prepared to give you the best chance of passing that driving test and earning you your freedom!
Frequently Asked Questions
How many hours will I need before being ready to take the practical test?
This is a difficult question for us to answer, as all students will learn at their own pace. The national average is around 45 hours of tuition with an instructor. Although this is a statistic published by the DVSA and we have found that these figures can vary greatly from one learner to the next. Some students will learn a lot quicker, whilst others may take longer.
Do you offer any discount?
Yes, we offer block booking discounts on our regular lesson prices. If you buy a block of 10 hours you will receive a discount.
Do I need my provisional licence before I can book my first lesson?
Yes you will need to have received your provisional licence before booking your first driving lesson. If a lesson is booked in with an instructor and you do not have your licence, the lesson cannot go ahead. By law, we need to see your licence on your very first lesson.
Do I need to pass my theory before I can start my driving lessons?
No, you can start your lessons at any time, and you do not have to have passed your theory test before you start your practical lessons. We offer access to the Theory Test Pro Programme for all our learners. Many of our learners have found revising for the theory while having practical lessons actually helps them understand aspects of the theory better. We would recommend that you study your theory whilst taking your practical driving lessons.
Can I choose my driving instructor?
Yes, if you have any preference at all on who you would like to learn with, please let us know, and we will do everything we can to try and fit you into their diary as quickly as possible.
What will my first lesson consist of?
Your first lesson will be based on your current level of ability. Generally, if you have never driven before, your instructor will drive you to a suitable location to ensure your safety whilst getting used to the car. This might be in a car park or on a quiet road. You will then go through with your instructor setting the car up so that you are comfortable and in the correct position to drive, your instructor will then explain some of the basic controls of the car. We aim to get everybody driving on their first lesson, the focus being on moving off and stopping safely. Depending on the length of the lesson and your previous knowledge/experience you may start looking at gears and junctions too.
Will my lessons be at the same time every week?
This depends on your diary and the instructor’s diary, for example many of our learners who study have week 1 & week 2 timetables. This means they need a different lesson time or day each week. Our instructors will do their best to accommodate your availability each week to ensure you receive a weekly lesson.
