Don’t just take our word for it. Here’s what our students have to say.
Ellie Passed February 2026 - Manual
I passed my driving test last week and I couldn't have done it without Theresa. She was so supportive and always made sure that I understood exactly what I needed to do. Something wasn't clicking which has made me a much more confident driver. I looked forward to every single lesson, Theresa really was the best instructor I could have asked for clear, calm and patient throughout. She helped me develop valuable skills that I can now use in my own car!
Aaron Fitzgerald Passed September 2025 - Manual
Wow what do I say, Rich is the best driving instructor! I went from never touching a car to passing with just 1 minor in 6 months. He knew exactly how to help and teach me. I feel he helped me understand what being a safe driver is not just how to pass the driving test. Rich is also a good laugh.
Grace Wilson Passed February 2026 - Manual
Gaz absolutely fantastic from start to finish. He supported me every step of the way making sure I was fully tested ready and patiently correcting any mistakes I made. He always remained calm reassuring and encouraging which really helped build my confidence. I couldn't have asked for a better instructor. Thank you so much for all your help.
Maria Rabbani Passed December 2025 - Automatic
I passed first time and I honestly couldn't have done it without Rofi. I started off extremely nervous and I didn't think I'd ever have the confidence to get on the road, but from the very first lesson Rofi completely eased my anxiety. He was patient, calm and incredibly reassuring throughout every step. I truly appreciate Rofi's encouragement and professionalism. He believed in me when I doubted myself. Thanks to him I now feel super confident on the road and I highly recommend Rofi, he is hands down the best instructor out there.
Local Driving Areas & Kettering Test Routes
Most new drivers begin on quieter “nursery routes” around Ise Lodge, Barton Seagrave, Brambleside, Avondale and the Grange Estate. These calmer residential streets—with simple junctions and predictable traffic—are perfect for building early confidence in moving off, steering, basic manoeuvres and meeting oncoming vehicles safely.
As your skills develop, lessons naturally progress onto the busier roads commonly used during Kettering driving tests. These include Pytchley Road, Northfield Avenue and Windmill Avenue, along with key faster routes such as the A43, A6003 and the A14 slip roads.
Kettering’s test routes offer a balanced mix of residential estates, urban roads and faster A‑roads, giving you experience across a wide range of driving environments. Examiners frequently include roundabouts such as Eskdaill Street, Glebe Farm and those along Rothwell Road. Residential areas around Barton Seagrave and Hall Meadow Road are often used for manoeuvres including bay parking, parallel parking and pull‑up‑on‑the‑right exercises.
Routes may also extend into rural areas towards Weekley, Warkton and Geddington, giving learners valuable practice in hazard awareness and speed control on narrower country roads.
Altogether, Kettering is an excellent place to learn to drive. The variety of road types and traffic conditions helps prepare learners not just for the test, but for a lifetime of safe, confident driving.
Preparing you for real‑world driving — not just the test!
When you come to take your test, you’ll head to the driving test centre in Kettering, located on Orion Way in the Business Park. Featuring a mixture of urban and rural routes, the driving test is designed to test the skills you’ve developed during your lessons.
Kettering’s test centre had a very healthy pass rate of 50.9% between April 2018 and March 2019. And, when you learn with our experienced instructors, you’ll be prepared to tackle your test and succeed.
Our driving instructors in Kettering know the area well and will make sure you’ve had all of the relevant practice on the test routes before taking you to the test centre.
Frequently Asked Questions
How many hours will I need before being ready to take the practical test?
This is a difficult question for us to answer, as all students will learn at their own pace. The national average is around 45 hours of tuition with an instructor. Although this is a statistic published by the DVSA and we have found that these figures can vary greatly from one learner to the next. Some students will learn a lot quicker, whilst others may take longer.
Do you offer any discount?
Yes, we offer block booking discounts on our regular lesson prices. If you buy a block of 10 hours you will receive a discount.
Do I need my provisional licence before I can book my first lesson?
Yes you will need to have received your provisional licence before booking your first driving lesson. If a lesson is booked in with an instructor and you do not have your licence, the lesson cannot go ahead. By law, we need to see your licence on your very first lesson.
Do I need to pass my theory before I can start my driving lessons?
No, you can start your lessons at any time, and you do not have to have passed your theory test before you start your practical lessons. We offer access to the Theory Test Pro Programme for all our learners. Many of our learners have found revising for the theory while having practical lessons actually helps them understand aspects of the theory better. We would recommend that you study your theory whilst taking your practical driving lessons.
Can I choose my driving instructor?
Yes, if you have any preference at all on who you would like to learn with, please let us know, and we will do everything we can to try and fit you into their diary as quickly as possible.
What will my first lesson consist of?
Your first lesson will be based on your current level of ability. Generally, if you have never driven before, your instructor will drive you to a suitable location to ensure your safety whilst getting used to the car. This might be in a car park or on a quiet road. You will then go through with your instructor setting the car up so that you are comfortable and in the correct position to drive, your instructor will then explain some of the basic controls of the car. We aim to get everybody driving on their first lesson, the focus being on moving off and stopping safely. Depending on the length of the lesson and your previous knowledge/experience you may start looking at gears and junctions too.
Will my lessons be at the same time every week?
This depends on your diary and the instructor’s diary, for example many of our learners who study have week 1 & week 2 timetables. This means they need a different lesson time or day each week. Our instructors will do their best to accommodate your availability each week to ensure you receive a weekly lesson.
